 A Synopsis of 2016 Silk Road International Expo and the Twentieth

Investment and Trade Forum for Cooperation between East and West China

Approved by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, according to the circular on the approval of renaming the Investment and Trade Forum for Cooperation between East and West China into the Silk Road International Expo and the Investment and Trade Forum for Cooperation between East and West China, which was issued by the National Leading Group for Clearance and Standardization of Celebration, Conference and Forum (No.21 [2016] Guoqingzuhan)，2016 Silk Road International Expo and the Twentieth Investment and Trade Forum for Cooperation between East and West China ( 2016 SRIE & the Twentieth ITFCEW for short) is held from May 13 to May 17 at Xi’an, Shaanxi, China. The Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Korea are honored with the guest countries. The honorable Chinese region and province are the People’s Government of Tibet Autonomous Region and the People’s Government of Fujian Province.

The guiding ideology of 2016 Silk Road International Expo and the Twentieth ITFCEW is fully putting into practice the guidelines of the Eighteenth CPC National Congress and the third, fourth and fifth plenary sessions of the Eighteenth CPC Central Committee, adhering to Deng Xiaoping Theory, the Important Thought of Three Represents and the Scientific Concept of Development, thoroughly carrying out the spirits of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s speeches, in particular, when inspecting Shaanxi, Xi required Shaanxi to integrate itself into the pattern of “ Belt and Road”, paying close attention to building a new platform for international cooperation, and upgrading the Silk Road International Expo. We shall establish and implement the development concept of Innovation, Coordination, Green, Opening up and sharing according to the general layout of “Five-in-One” and “Four Pronged Comprehensive Strategy. Its theme is building a new platform for a new development together. We shall give full play of the role of Shaanxi oriented as the central region of the Belt and Road, promoting a new progress for international cooperation, accelerating win-win and practical cooperation between the Belt and Road countries and regions in various fields, creating such  a more comprehensive pattern for opening up as the land and sea linkage and the east-west double way opening up so as to contribute to the good start of the economic and social development for China’s Thirteenth Five-Year Plan.

2016 Silk Road International Expo and the Twentieth ITFCEW is composed of such two parts as exhibition and activity. It has various professional and international measures based on integration of the pavilions and a series of steering International conferences and investment and trade activities for further raising the level and actual effects, and domestic and overseas reputation.

2016 Silk Road Expo and the Twentieth ITFCEW is set at one venue and four branches, covering a total area of 300 thousand square meters, namely, Xi’an Qujiang International Conference and Exhibition Center and Xi’an Greenland Pico International Convention and Exhibition Center, including the Silk Road International Pavilion, China Aerospace Engineering Show, Consumer Fair, Equipment Manufacturing Industry Exhibition, IT and Hi-Tech Industries Exhibition and Green Ecology Industry Exhibition, as well as the Silk Road Tourist Culture Fair, the Silk Road Commodity and Trade Fair, Technological Achievements Fair and Agricultural Produce Fair, which are separately done at Tang West Market, South China Town, Technological Resources Coordination Center of Shaanxi Province and Yurun Shaanxi Agricultural Produce Exhibition Center, Xi’an.

The 2016 Silk Road International Expo and the Twentieth ITFCEW has more than 20 activities, such as opening ceremony, activities held by the guest countries and the honorable region (province), International Forum for Industrial Development Promoted by Measure, the Silk Road International Chambers of Commerce Roundtable (Xi’an), Symposium for the Customs International Cooperation and Trade Facilitation and Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises Cross-Border Investment and Trade Cooperation Fair. The state leaders, the Belt and Road counties’ politicians, domestic and overseas entrepreneurs and clients are invited to attend the events. On the occasion, a lot of major activities will be hosted by China’s provincial delegations and branches of Shaanxi Province. Meanwhile, the organizing committee and the executive committee meeting, press conference, signing ceremony, results conference and commendation will also be conducted as usual.

We shall do our best to make the Silk Road International Expo and the Twentieth ITFCEW, a new platform for international cooperation, play an important role in the win-win progress and common development, in particular, interactive cooperation between China’s eastern, middle and western regions and economic cooperation between the Belt and Road countries, so as to make more contribution for realizing the Belt and Road strategic concept and building a well-off society in an all-around way.
